We finished Harvest 2011 today! Daryl shelled the rest of the corn and Tom cut the last of the wheat beans and replant beans so this harvest is in the books.  A very wet and frustrating fall but we prevailed with some long hours, good attitudes, and some help form God!  Now we have to try and finish chiseling the ground and look forward to our winter projects.

We started cutting beans today.  It is incredible that we haven't started them yet but the weather has been very wet the last 10 days and not allowed the beans to dry.  We struggled to get corn shelled also.  There hasn't been too much action up until now but it looks like a good time to get back with it.

We started harvest for the 2011 year today.  We started shelling corn east of the shop.  Things look good out in the field and we hope to have a great harvest!

We decided that we are going to put up a new tool shed today.  We need to replace a tool shed that holds some of our semi tractors.  This shed is in disrepair and we need to make a change to increase storage of semi tractors and other equipment.  We are going to place it to the east of the current shop.

We finished applying our Nitrogen today and are looking forward to things calming down a little bit now as we head towards harvest.  The whole year has been thrown out of rhythm because of delayed planting.  Wondering what sort of effect the yields might have bcause of late planting.

It has been one long Month we have been fighting the weather the whole time.  It has been such a struggle to complete planting.  We finished planting corn towards the end of May and had to replant 2 fields because there was too much water on them.  We still have to go and replant some holes in the bean fields but need it to dry up a little more.  Other then that we are done planting for 2011...Hopefully!

It has been a very wet Spring so far and we have been eagerly waiting for it to dry out.  It dried out enough today for us to start Corn Planting!  We are going to start planting the Beans tomorrow hopefully we can get planting done quickly.

It was decided this week that Daryl will be in charge of the ditching operations.  He will take over and start laying tile this fall.  This move will help expand the operation and make us more properous by dedicating a team to ditch all the time.
